Developing A Genetic Origins Map

With the use of DNA tests from Ancestry.com and Family Tree.com, I have been able to use programs from both of these companies (and others) to build a genetic map. This is an actual map that shows your ethnic origins based on comparison tests from thousands of other DNA tests.

Making a genetic map can help bring your family history to life, and shows where your ancestors came from thousands of years ago. There are many versions of this map, and can be used to show your combined maternal & paternal ancestry as well as either maternal or paternal (males only) origins.

Below is a sample of my combined maternal and paternal genetic origins map as indicated by the program offered by Family Tree DNA. The results were a bit of a surprise to me as I never knew I had Nordic and Meditteranean DNA in my. The amount of Swiss DNA was also a bit of a surprise.

However,
