100th Anniversary of the Battle Of The Somme
July 1, 2016 marks the 100th anniversary of the start of the Battle Of The Somme in WWI, one of the bloodiest battles of the First World War.
The Battle Of The Somme has personal meaning for me and my family as my maternal Great Grandfather, Norman Crosby, was killed during part of this battle in September, 1916.
During my research into my family history, I have discovered many other family members who served King and Country during WWI, and several who also lost their lives in this battle.
As a tribute to my fallen family members, and the others who gave their lives fighting for our freedom, I am creating a special "Fallen Heroes" page so that all can realize how many of our family fought during the Great War to protect the liberties that we now sometimes take for granted.
Lest We Forget
